Hey!

By starting with "hey," the recipient has no way of knowing what the conversation will be about or how long it will take. If they’re in the middle of something, the uncertainty can break their concentration.

If it's clear what the question is up front, they can determine whether they can answer immediately or if they'll need to come back to it when they've reached a stopping point.
